Carolina Pyros General

I went to first thank Jorge Cobas for getting us started on the elections for 2020. PLEASE ALL MEMBERS pay attention to this most important part of the Carolina Pyros Club! At one of our last board meetings we discussed the opportunities and desire to have new people step up and run for one of the officer's positions that are up for elections. All of us on the current board agree that we want a diverse, cooperative, communicative, and motivated group to lead the club, and continue to grow this great group of folks! So it is time, right NOW, for you to step up and run!

Yes, this has been an unprecedented year for all of us, and the Club just was not able to put together and hold a number of the get togethers we were hoping for. We were determined to have the Fall event, and it turned out to be a terrific time for all who attended! The membership grew by nearly 60%! It shows that with your support, we are able to grow this club, and have successful events where we can practice our craft safely, and legally to be able to do the things we do!

I am not seeking re-election this year, so the VP office is up for nominations. I formally nominate Jorge Cobas to run for this office, so his position as Secretary is also open. The Secretary's position is probably the most important post, as it is the most time consuming. Jorge's dedication and commitment to keeping up with all the duties as Secretary have been just exemplary, so there are some very big shoes to fill! The Treasurer position is next in line, and will require someone who has the knowledge and where-withal to keep up with the financial aspects of this organization. While we are just a fireworks club, we are also an incorporated entity, and with that goes the legal obligations to maintain all record-keeping, as well as a balance budget.

We are dependent on all you members, not just your dues, but your donations, shoot fees, volunteering, attendance, and support. All of the vendors who dedicated their time to come down to our last event were all wonderfully surprised and thrilled at the turn out, and how well our members supported them all.

I want to also reach out in appreciation to our President Mike Russell, who, without his enthusiasm, dedication, as well as opening up his home to host these events, we would not have been able to have this event this year. Mike is running for the Presidency again, and I hope all of you will join me in Voting for him unanimously!

Moving into the next year, I would like to see the Club succeed, and be able to host more events. I do plan on hosting another Shell Building exercise, which will be at my location here in Lexington, NC. I would like to turn that into a two-day event, so we can also completely finish the shells we do make.

Holding another big pyromusical event like we did in November of 2019 has also been discussed, but in order to do that we will really need to get the planning going earlier, and be more prepared financially, so we can turn that into a more profitable program - we really nearly lost our shirts!

Please take the time to consider what your own ideas and objectives for this club are, and let us know! Since we do not get to meet on a more regular basis, it is even more important to communicate through this forum, and through emails with the Board members! We have decided that this Forum, under the "Members Only" portal, is preferable. So many of you know that while we continue with our Facebook page, that social platform is NOT the place to conduct the business of the club.

Thank you all for your passion; let's please keep this club alive, vibrant and successful. There just aren't many places where we can play with fireworks the way we do!
