Vote For Pedro!!! (CP Secretary)

Hello everyone! My name is Jorge. I have been the Secretary of the Carolina Pyros since inception. Somehow, I deleted the elections posting on Facebook I had written and it is not coming back lol. Anyway, a little about me. I have been around fireworks and pyrotechnics for a long time. Fireworks has always been a passion of mine since a very young age. I was born and raised in South Florida and transplanted to the Carolina's in 2002. I’m outdoor display operator licensed in NC, SC and have a CDL with Hazmat DL. All not possible without the help and relations developed being part of the Carolina Pyros.

I first chatted with Chris Leach on a pyro forum, he had posted about a pyrotechnics show in Polkton, NC. I can’t recall the reason but I didn’t make it to what we now know as the birth place of the Carolina Pyros. Yes, there was even a bovine stampede through the shoot site from what I hear. I finally had the pleasure of meeting Chris on a cold April day in Lake Wylie, SC at a pyro event hosted by Henry Peterman and crew. From there we have formed a friendship, he has shared his passion for pyrotechnics and the vision he had for creating the Carolina Pyros. I had asked Chris about helping him with display fireworks and he introduced me to our very own crazy uncle Jeff Hale.

Carolina Pyros has been an avenue for many to share their hobby. Without organizations like this many would not be able to engage in the hobby they love. I felt very humbled when I was approached to be part of the board and assist building the foundation for the club. Carolina Pyros like others have said, has its share of ups and downs. We have run into road blocks but have found ways to continue forward. We have made mistakes but have learned from them and have become better. Through the hard work and dedications of all members the Carolina Pyros have become stronger. Being part of the board or not I will always support the Carolina Pyros. I have submitted my name for secretary and hope to continue the momentum we have gained. Can’t wait to see what 2020 brings.

Without a doubt I feel the Carolina Pyros can become a premiere pyrotechnics club that many will envy. Take advantage of the wealth of knowledge we have in the club. There is no stupid question and everyone is more than willing to help you out. We have members from many backgrounds and experience levels. I have been blessed to share the field with many of you, learning new things and taking part in the pyro fellowship. Even with the multiple days of painstaking setup, the back pains, fingers hurting, feet hurting and chewing on Tylenol it is all worth it at the end.

Carolina Pyros

Secretary,

Jorge “Mr. 305 Pyro” Cobas
