5 inch Mortars
Question for the group what size tubes are you guys shooting 5 inch mortars from? I noticed this year that some of my mortars seem to be breaking a little low and these were the five inch mortars and I was shooting them out of my 12 inch tubes.
Thanks for the feedback in advance.
Backyard gathering legality?
I've been looking online and hit roadblock after roadblock.... but I'm sure you guys have looked this up and may have it readily available or stored in memory. :)
Here is what I know: 1) It is legal in my area to shoot fireworks (Spartanburg County - not City)
2) It is legal in my neighborhood as in HOA has no issues
3) I have a firing system
4) I plan on doing some sort of pyromusical - not the entire show but at least 1 song
5) This will last well over 10 minutes. (I can always pause it) I'm wanting have a small "show" and I was wondering if there is anything about all 1.4g fireworks could make this into a legit show to where I could get in trouble.... I'm trying to avoid that obviously lol
Good morning, John!
Thank you so much for your comment and sharing of that PDF... I couldn't find something like that anywhere.
This is great information to have! Most of it concerned the Public Display but there was a good section for the Consumer and answers a lot of questions that I had and the ones I had yet to think of.
I guess, my concern is what starts out as a private backyard event to becoming a "public display." I only have the 1.4g and those can't be used for a public display according to that PDF you gave (which is fine because I'm not trying to put on a display). I am in no way trying to have one, but I'm sure there are people out there who try to skirt by on some "created grey area"... I'm trying to avoid that as well.
Last year, other neighbors saw us shooting and came to join us. What started out as 7 people (2 families) ended up being about 15. This year, there will be more "production" in the sense that I'm adding music, with more and better timed events, but I'm just learning and trying to enjoy for personal gain... but I am aware the optics of such and I imagine there is a very thin line... one I'm not wanting to cross or tread. Even had fellow neighbors say they'd like to join us next year (which is now this year).
I just don't see where it defines a public display as XYZ - . I guess I'm not going to announce anything to be on the safe side, but I will always warn my close neighbors for considerations of pets and PTSD.
Thanks again John!
